Global: Survey of community treatment orders

Little evidence of positive effects found worldwide

The Mental Health Alliance, a coalition of 78 organisations working together for a better Mental Health bill in the United Kingdom, has gathered evidence from across the world on the topic of Community Treatment Orders [CTO] and has discovered little evidence of their effectiveness.

A paper on the experiences of using CTOs is published on the UK Department of Health website by a team of four authors, Rachel Churchill, Gareth Owen, Swaran Singh and Matthew Hotopf, and can be accessed on the Department’s website at: www.dh.gov.uk
