New Zealand: National screening programme

People with diabetes to get a free annual check–up

The 'Get Checked Programme' funded by the Ministry of Health has been established to ensure that every New Zealander with diabetes gets a free annual check–up with their GP or practice nurse.

The objectives of the programme include: Systematically screening for the risk factors and complications of diabetes to promote early detection and intervention, agreeing an updated treatment plan for each person, prescribing treatment and referring to specialist or other care.
