Toronto plays host to Social Work National Conference
'Human rights in a diverse community' is the theme for the first Social Work National Conference which brings together all manner of professionals with an interest in social work from across Canada. The aim is to stimulate dialogue and inspire new insights into issues of human rights and access to services at the gathering, which takes place in Toronto, 22–25 May 2008.
The Social Work National Conference provides a forum for social workers, clinicians, administrators, researchers, educators and policy–makers from all over the country to share ideas, enhance their knowledge, integrate research theory and practice, and expand their perspectives on national and global issues of relevance.
Toronto was chosen as the venue because it is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world. The event is co–sponsored by the Canadian Association of Social Workers and the Canadian Association of Schools of Social Work.
