Hungary: New plan for funding to raise standards of care
Government in private sector health insurance talks
Early this month [October] it was announced that talks had begun between the Government and insurance companies on the implementation of the Health Insurance Bill.
At the subsequent press conference, it was explained by State Secretary for Health, Gyula Kincses, that a 51 per cent controlling interest control of the Health Service would remain with the Government and that the insurance companies involved would have the opportunity to influence certain technical, organisational and operating matters, subject to final agreement.
Another governmental decision announced at the press conference will allow care institutions to consolidate their designated volumes figures to match the number of patients in care.
At present Hungary is listed at 24th out of 29 countries set out in a recent report, but the Minister expressed his belief that this will improve significantly when the health fund system is introduced in 2009.
