Further trials of meningitis vaccine set for the summer
The Meningitis Vaccine Project [MVP] recently released data on the performance of a vaccine trial that could provide long–term, low–cost protection from meningitis epidemics in West African children and their communities.
Further tests are planned to take place in Mali, The Gambia and at least one other African country. An additional clinical study is planned for this summer in India, where the vaccine will be licensed.
MVP is a partnership between the World Health Organization and the PATH organisation, in collaboration with vaccine producer Serum Institute of India.
