Spain: Common aims in prevention and promotion
Barcelona hosts European Mental Health Conference
‘Joining forces across Europe for prevention and promotion of mental health’ is the theme of the next European Mental Health Conference which takes place in Barcelona, Spain, from 13 to 15 September 2007. The aim is to support future initiatives of the European Commission in mental health, to build on the promotion and mental disorder prevention components of the World Health Organization ‘Declaration and action plan for mental health.’
Specific areas to be addressed include scientific evidence to help steer health policies and programmes, implementation, financing, building capacity and training. The conference plans to be action–orientated and participatory because it is structured around numerous working sessions and discussion panels, with the aim of sharing experiences, barriers and opportunities encountered throughout Europe.
Professionals from a range of sectors are expected to attend including those from health, education, justice and employment.
