Pakistan: Crops destroyed during floods disaster
Medical aid teams raise concerns over food for winter
In response to the severe floods in Parkistan earlier this year, Medecins Sans Frontieres [MSF] teams continue to provide medical supplies and help to complement the work of the Parkistan Ministry of Health.
MSF has set–up mobile clinics, a diarrhoea treatment centre and water sanitation projects. It also continues to distribute vital relief items which include tents, blankets, hygiene kits and emergency food supplies.
Many villages were left isolated as roads and bridges collapsed which has hampered relief efforts. The floods caused electricity to be cut–off, the contamination of water supplies and the destruction of homes. Also, crops were destroyed by the floods with concerns about the food situation over the coming months.
