State launches new service for children with disabilities
‘Babies Can’t Wait’ is the name of Georgia’s state–wide, multi–agency service for infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities and their families. It guarantees all eligible children, regardless of their disability, early intervention and access to services that will enhance their development.
The service, run by the Georgia Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health, now seeks public comment on its application for a grant.
Established as part of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the service is provided in accordance with federal guidelines and ensures that its professionals have the latest training and information. It is delivered through 18 district offices, and anyone can refer a child for evaluation.
