Guyana:
Call for public optimism and patriotism to build nation
President Bharrat Jagdeo has urged all Guyanese people to become better acquainted with his Government’s plans to improve lives and transform the infrastructural landscape of the nation. He also urged citizens not to focus so much on the negative, but to adopt a more optimistic attitude about Guyana and its future.
The President made these comments at the opening of the Ogle Airport and terminal building. He went on to highlight the plans for the air transport sector, agriculture, information technology, health care and education among other fields.
He acknowledged that there are problems which must be addressed, but said the Guyanese need to develop patriotism and to be as positive as possible about their nation.
Mr Jagdeo said, “In each sector we have a plan for this country. They are all hinged together by a vision of where we would like to see our country in the future. I think we all have a responsibility in this country to know what the vision is and work towards accomplishing it.”
