Children who spend more than two hours a day in front of a TV or computer screen are more likely to be overweight than their peers, according to the United States National Institutes of Health and the Centre for Screen Time Awareness. The recent We Can [Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition] national program encouraged parents and children aged 8–13 to switch the screen off and boost physical activity and healthier living. Over 12.5 million American children are overweight. |
